Ember Ridge is not a theory developed in a boardroom. It is the enlargement of a pattern our family has lived for nearly two decades.
The Foundation
Restoration, lived before it was taught
The foundation of this vision is restoration. Shannon Suttles knows what it means to be considered beyond repair. Her early life was marked by severe abuse, rejection, addiction, instability, homelessness, and deep emotional wounds. There were seasons when professionals and spiritual leaders alike had little hope for her future.
Yet Jesus Christ did not abandon what others had written off. He met her, delivered her, taught her to hear His voice, rebuilt her identity, restored her capacity to love, and transformed the places of greatest pain into a ministry of hope for others.
That testimony formed the way Shannon and Jason understand the Gospel. Restoration has never been an abstract message to them. It is the lived reality of a God who enters broken places, tells the truth in love, and patiently rebuilds a life until purpose stands where devastation once ruled.
A Home Before a Ministry
A table, a bed, and people willing to remain
Long before there was a plan for Ember Ridge, their home became a place of refuge — for people facing homelessness, addiction, mental illness, domestic violence, family crisis, and the loss of direction.
They housed women and children escaping danger, walked beside parents whose children were missing, and welcomed families who needed more than a brief appointment.
They needed a table, a bed, consistent prayer, correction without rejection, and people willing to remain present long enough for healing to take root.
This same pattern expanded into churches, schools, businesses, and leadership environments. Shannon spent roughly a decade training intercessors and teaching believers to hear the voice of God, discern spiritual roots, minister healing, and stand in the gap for families and nations.
Jason provided spiritual covering, operational strength, and a steady example of fatherhood and covenant.
Jesus Loves the Little Children
The family’s school chaplaincy was born from prayer, not institutional ambition. What began as intercession became a presence within schools, where children, families and staff found hope, order and practical help.
It proved a principle central to Ember Ridge: when prayer, discernment and professional responsibility work together, environments change.
Confirmed Within the Family
Some healing occurs only through proximity
The vision has been confirmed within the family itself. Anne Whaley, J.D., found restoration not through counsel but through returning to healthy household life. Living under the same roof brought hidden wounds to the surface, inside an atmosphere of love, truth, prayer and boundaries.
Her testimony gave the family language for what they had already witnessed in many others. People often need more than a message; they need to observe covenant, share meals, experience consistency, receive correction safely, and discover what healthy family life feels like from the inside.
Ember Ridge enlarges that household without turning it into an institution.
It gives structure, space, and stewardship to a ministry pattern that has already borne fruit. The work will remain personal enough for people to be known, intentional enough for placements to be prayerfully discerned, and professionally governed enough to protect both those who come and those who serve.
